NEW SEASON WILL BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY 29TH FEBRUARY… ONCE AGAIN WE ARE EXPECTING 3 EXCITING DIVISIONS..IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CANNOT CONTINUE OR ARE UNSURE OF YOUR PARTICIPATION PLEASE DO GIVE ME A HEADS UP :)
For the first time in what must feel like a century Reith Rovers have been dumped out of the title race in the most dramatic fashion possible. In a back and forth encounter Features pulled off an unlikely comeback to defeat the 3 time champions. Features are now in 2nd. Repucom remain top but it definitely wasn’t easy as a goal in the final 5 had them take the 3 points. The game could have been different as penalty appeals by Cambridge were turned down by the referee. Repucom due to their monster goal difference look like certain champions unless Reith humiliate them next week and Features win massively. Over at the other end of the table loss for Cambridge sees them demoted to league one and they certainly went out with a fight. Red Star grabbed an all important point against Refine United who will miss out on the top 3 this season but the big news comes as MSE took down Chronicle Hackers. In final day drama either 2 out of MSE, Hackers and Red Star will go down. In our final encounter of the evening Bodyworks West defeated Canvas FC, both now on 12 points can neither get relegated or promoted.

Top dog
The game between Repucom and Cambridge University was a stale mate in the 1st half 0-0 all the way through! Glenn Williamson broke the deadlock to open the scoring in the game and put the league leaders ahead! The score line was all level minutes later as Tim Smith equalised for Cambridge to shock the team in 1st place; both keepers were then called into action with flamboyant saves and the ball went from end to end but with 5 minutes left Glenn Williamson became the hero for the current league leaders as he got his 2nd as the ball looped up and he somehow managed to head it over the keeper. Cambridge had late appeals of a penalty turned down as the keeper looked like he had kicked outside the area, he certainly was outside but did he contact the ball outside. Sepp Blatter we need an eye in the sky please…
Comeback complete
Features came from behind 3 times to beat Reith Rovers who couldn’t finish their opponents off, It was 1 apiece at half time as Harry opened the scoring for rovers but only for Nick Woodrow to equalise for features before the break. In the 2nd half rovers took the lead again as Colin got his name on the score sheet to break features momentum, this time it was Jacques Salmon who equalised for the features to make it 2 apiece with plenty left to play! Both keepers continued their countless saves but eventually Harry broke through and got his 2nd of the game to put rovers ahead for a THIRD time. Features just didn’t give in after Andy Trickett equalised yet again for his team. The game was won when Jacques Salmon pulled something out of the bag to get the win in heartbreaking fashion.
Going solo
Kimo (Refine) took on a defender with good skill to then calmly finish with his left foot into the bottom corner putting his team in front in the game!
Hat trick hero
Leroy (Bodyworks) scored to complete his hat-trick as he caressed the ball using his instep to finish it like Thierry Henry!
The unlikely hero
Darren (MSE) smashed a goal in from close range that the keeper didn’t want to get in the way of in the cold weather!
A little bit of luck
Glenn Williamson (Repucom) managed to get on the end of a lofted pass over an opponent’s head to nod over the keeper as he came off his line!
Showboat
Tim Smith (Cambridge) had great quick feet to nip past opponents and give them a hard time, was unlucky to be on the losing side!
Stinger
Jacob Steinberg (Bodyworks) had a sweet left foot that he used to dribble inside opponents and get some good shots off to work the goalkeeper.
Danger
Colin Barr (Reith) was on fire with both feet in his game as he was 1 of the danger men for the opposition to keep an eye on!
Rock solid
Nik Gerig (canvas) tackled opponents well using his long legs to poke the ball away and dispossess the players running at him.
Ivan Lazic (Red Star) made some good tackles in his game being strong at the back to protect his goalkeeper and concede just the one.
Sean Gallagher (Repucom) had a good reading of the game which he used to intercept passes and start counter attacks for his team mates.
Captain defeated
Steve Condie (Reith) lead his team being very verbal throughout to position his team well and organise the defensive side of things, Reith left baffled as to how they lost..
Super saves
Yusuf Bhunnoo (Refine) made good saves throughout his game to keep in the game when the opponents equalised before!
Both keepers in the Repucom vs. Cambridge game were outstanding particularly in the late 2nd half.
